Privacy Policy

Location. With your permission, we read your device location once to pre-fill your departure point. You can refuse this and type a departure address instead. We do not track your location in the background and we do not store a history of your device positions.

Route searches. The departure and destination addresses you enter are sent to our routing provider to calculate a driving route and the toll gates along it. If you have an account, a record that a calculation occurred is stored so we can apply your monthly usage allowance.

Account information. If you create an account, we store your email address and, where you sign in with Google, the basic profile details Google returns (name and email).

Payment information. Subscriptions are processed by our third-party payment provider. We never see or store your card details. We only receive your subscription status and billing period.

We use this information to calculate routes and toll costs, to display your trip history, to enforce free and premium usage limits, to process subscription payments, and to keep the service secure and working correctly.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Google Maps Platform — receives the addresses and coordinates needed to geocode locations and compute a driving route. Google's handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policy.

Our hosting and database provider — stores your account, subscription status and usage records on our behalf.

Our payment provider — processes payments and acts as merchant of record for subscriptions.

We may also disclose information where required by South African law or to protect our legal rights.

Account and subscription records are kept for as long as your account is active, and afterwards only as long as needed for tax and accounting obligations. Usage records used for monthly limits are kept for up to 24 months. Location readings used to pre-fill your departure field are used in the moment and are not retained.

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and associated data. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable period.

You can revoke location permission at any time in your browser or device settings without losing access to the app.

Highway is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Toll tariffs shown in Highway are estimates based on published plaza tariffs and may not reflect recent increases, discounts, e-tag rebates or class reclassifications. Always treat the amounts as a guide rather than a guaranteed price.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notified in the app.
